   you would have to contact a group that raises and trains dogs for guide dogs.. however, I can tell you that the dogs available wont likely be "puppies".. you may find a young dog that is between the age of 1-2 years.

   The puppies are sent to homes to be raised first.. they need taught housebreaking, obedience, and basic house manners. Although the pups are screened prior to going to the raiser's homes.. they dont really get a serious screening until they are a year old when they go back to the facility for their training. If the dog fails, it is offered first to the breeder, then to the raiser.. if neither one wants or is able to take the dog, then its offered for adoption.

   First off – are you wanting him as a guide dog yourself – or as a pet?

   Secondly – how old is this dog and why is he in foster care?

   Sometimes dogs that have been abandoned (or even abused) develop lots of fears (anxiety), but that does not mean that once they are back in a good family and receive lots of love, that they won't get back to "normal"… Dogs need to feel secure and once they do they often recover completely… It will take a lot of TLC and training, but from what you state I don't see a reason not to adopt him…

   Any animal I've actually seen doing this for another animal was instinctual and they did it of their own accord. It had absolutely nothing to do with training. Also, handicapped animals don't really need guide dogs so much like people do. They adapt much better than we do. They rely on their other senses to get them around and they're okay. They don't get depressed or feel sorry for themselves like people do. They just adapt and move on with life.

   I have a blind cat and she relies on her whiskers to navigate her way around and her sense of smell. At the beginning, it looked like she was smashing into everything until I actually sat on the floor and saw that she was using her whiskers to navigate with. Being deaf along with being blind will handicap him a little bit more than my cat but, like I said, they really do find ways to adapt much better than people do. Maybe you can stomp your foot on the ground or something like that so he'll feel a vibration and use that for different kinds of signals to him….. Something like that. Best of luck to you.. You'll figure things out in working with him and what works best for the two of you.

    my dog had 4 seizures.. within the past 2 months and 2 were in the period of one week; he had one standing up; that vet said there was nothing wrong,when he come out of it he is all disoriented and tries to walk and rubs his body and head all over everything.. what do u think we should do?

    we are training a guide dog and it leaves us tomorrow arfer a year of training with us in our family home it really hard to give the puppie up but you have to think of the possitive.

    it's a puppy mill. If you want a mixed breed, adopt from a local dog shelter.
